Healing Circle
Lyrebird Feathers
Welcoming (which included language words)
Nicole Monks, collaborated closely with local knowledge holders and the Aboriginal Community to embed multi-dimensional narratives centered on Dharawal culture. This engagement included workshops at Campbelltown Arts Centre, where models and mark-making created by children and Elders were integrated into the fabric of the hospital. Key elements include a Dharawal Welcome Stone, a sensory stone featuring the handprints of four cultural mentors, Lyrebird feather drawings, Dharawal language, and two suspended rotating Lyrebird feathers (7m & 3.5m high) at the hospital entrances, symbolising the Dharawal totem and brass letter messaging at entrance points. An outdoor healing circle, surrounded by native plants, further enhances the connection between culture, community, and place.
